Kennel Club YKC Flyball Rules and Qualification Procedures
What Is Flyball?
Flyball is a fast dog sport consisting of two teams of four dogs (plus two reserve) which race against each other over identical courses. Each dog has to jump four jumps in a row and then trigger the box that releases a tennis ball. The dog then has to return over the four jumps, carrying the ball. When the first dog's nose has crossed the start/finish line, the next dog can go.
Definition of Classes
- Teams may have one handler from the 18 - 24 age group.
- The team coach to assist the team in the ring may be an adult.
In order to qualify to take part in the competition, members must qualify at a YKC Flyball heat, as listed in the Crufts qualifiers booklet.
Crufts 2008 Qualification Procedure
Teams that have qualified for the Crufts Final will not be able to participate in any further Crufts Flyball heats that year. This is due to the nature of the Crufts competition, which is run on a knockout basis, and it would be unfair for unqualified teams to be knocked out by a qualified team.
The competition will be held under Kennel Club Regulations H and H(2). Please refer to the current Kennel Club Year Book for specific H(2) Flyball Regulations.
